the president's trip. allen west keeps up the fight in flo florida. and new jersey gets some love from the vp. after two recounts and two hearings, patrick murphy remains the unofficial winner in the contest for florida's 18th congressional district. murphy's lead is just outside the 0.5 that would trigger a recount. they continued to count ballots after a noon deadline passed. murphy's campaign declared itself the winner based on the deadline past while west's campaign showed no sign of conceding. vice president joe biden toured storm damaged new jersey yesterday reassuring residents the federal government won't forget about them. biden spent his summers at the jersey shore as a boy and had this to say. >> so as the president is up here with the governor, we're not going anywhere, governor. we're not going anywhere, and you have a homeboy in the deal who gets it. >> and speaking of the garden state, new jersey governor chris christie stopped by "saturday night live" this weekend to talk hurricane recovery in his famous fashion fleece. >> i'd like to thank the red cross and first responders.
to a conclusion and a little sweet talk for hostess. there's finally a winner in the race for florida's 18th congressional district. allen west, the republican, conceded to democrat patrick r murphy early today. after a two-week battle west decided to opt against the long and costly court battle. he went on to congratulate murphy saying he praised that murphy will serve his constituents with honor and integrity. >>> and another close house race will come to a close later today for utah's fourth congressional district race between mia love and jim mathison will be released today. love conceded the race on election night but is holding out hope uncounted mail and provisional ballots could turn the results. mathison is leadi ining given t president obama lost the state by 48%. finally, pour some sugar on me. twinkies may not be gone for good. hostess has agreed to mediation after a bankruptcy judge demanded that the two groups negotiate. it's unclear how the talks will go but both sides expressed hope and it's possible thousands of jobs could be saved. the mediation is set to take place this
47%. not exactly a number he wants to be thinking about. let's go through a few states. in florida what we reported on election day was at the recount number, less than 50,000 vote lead for the president. his lead expanded to about 75,000, still less than a percentage vote. florida clearly incredibly close. ohio was a two-point margin on election day. on election night after the election it's gotten up to three points with rounding, 51-48 as you can seechlt ohio getting close to the national average. then there is virginia which has been on the national number. on election day it was 51.48. it's expanded to 51-47. then colorado, 51-47 on election day. the big surprise is with rounding, 52-46. we'll talk about colorado in a minute. let's bring in my colleague at the white house, nbc's mike viqueira, former adviser to george bush and sarah feagin and doug thorn nell. welcome all. good to be with you. sarah, the colorado number is the one most striking. these provisional ballots has come in. it takes this country three weeks to count votes. it's a good thing we weren't waiting here. w
